Had a great time -- a perfect short hike (about an hour and 20 minutes up from 9N) that gives you plenty of time to enjoy the 360 degree views. I love to visit old fire lookout stations, and wish this one still had stairs to reach the top.
A word of advice, the trail from 9N follows a rocky drainage/stream for more than a third of the way, and with all the bog crossings, I'd suggest waiting for a dry-ish time of the year to hike.

Mud season... in fall
We hiked up the north trail from Crows Clearing. The trail was very rocky and muddy, since much of it goes through a (somewhat) dried up stream bed. The mud factor was amped up at higher elevations since it had snowed recently and was melting. But the views at the summit were excellent... the Great Range in peak foliage and Lake Champlain.

Wish I brought snowshoes
Drove from Montreal and discovered there was a foot of snow on the ground. Attempted the peak anyway, but failed. Climbed it a few other times though. Great view above the tree line

First snowshoed in the winter from Rt 9, pretty good snowstorm at the summit. Returned in the summer, hiked again from rt 9, great views even without the tower.

Great Hike
Short dayhike to redeem myself for turning back on Marcy a few days ago. Fantastic summit with a terrific view. High winds and brutal cold meant only a 20 second or so stay on the very top, but made for a sight with the clear air and big clouds getting pushed around the High Peaks. Lots on new snow up top, as well as lots and lots of ice. Watch your step!

Hurricane Mountain
Climbed via the Hurricane Mountain Trail from Route 9N. Spectacular fall foliage during the entire hike. Great views from the rocky summit of Lake Champlain and the High Peaks Region. The only dissapointment was to learn that the fire tower on the summit is no longer accessible.
I climbed this one as part of a winter camping trip. Some friends and I attempted the ascent at night, but the weather was brutally cold (-10 degrees and very windy). I had full face gear, so I was able to summit. The rest high-tailed it back to warm bags at the lean-to.
