Freezing on Mt. Rose

Freezing on Mt. Rose

SP'er Dennis P. getting ready to have his lunch in the frigid summit shelter of Mt. Rose. This was taken on May 29th and the wind chill factor was well below zero. The wind was gusting up to 65 miles an hour on this summit and the summit ridge, it about blew us off when we tried to stand up. I think his apple was frozen by the time he got ot it. You can see the outline of Church Peak in the background. May 29, 2004

Who turned off the heater??

What happened to the weather? All the other shots from your trip Dean show clear blue skies and warm sunlight??? Frost covered scree; low visibility - is this the Wallowas in October??

Great shot!

Re: Who turned off the heater??

Thanks Radek. This was the first day of the trip. Fortunately the next day brought great weather and we had it the rest of the week. It isn't hard to understand why we didn't see anyone else on the mountain this day. We loved it even though we couldn't feel our fingers or toes at this point in time. : ))
