Rappeling of things past...

It is also with a surreal sense of achievement that I read this lovely account of the happy convergence of your two passions. (And thank you for my new desktop image, "Evolution Lake," the gazing at which I believe will nicely save me resorting to the panacea of those of my cohort who have not managed passions well [let alone convergence thereof]: the torturous yoga-meditation class for the middle-aged.)

(Surreal because I am now so old as to find traversing this universe of spatial, temporal, and personal fluidity slightly vertiginous; lovely, because, of course, it rappels you.)

Trust that "this sack of potatoes" is merely your characteristic self-abnegating hyperbole.

Good sentence, Berry!: "Mt. Spencer thrusting up like some kind of wannabe Sugar Loaf in the foreground and the great craggy buttress of Mendel-Darwin on the left."

Ah, if only, "…but we awoke to a new day and…to new bodies"!

P.S. Pity you missed Bishop's Mule Days Celebration. Quite a nice beast, the mule; perhaps I might drawn down my credit card debt by the production and sale of Darwin-atop-a-mule t-shirts?
