Cool place, and a great mountain to climb mid-winter.

NW Ridge
After reaching numerous peaks in the Greater Yellowstone area there was always one peak that I could not only always see but seemed to dominate the landscape, Emigrant. Hiked with my new companion Yeti.
Good strenous hike, 3 hrs up, 1 1/2 down elevation gain is 4,000'
Climbed again in August of 2010 with a self admitted "Old Fat Guy", this time NW ridge, 4hrs up, Just over two down.
Route Climbed: West Rib Date Climbed: September 1995
This peak was part of a three week peak bagging adventure with many new (now old) friends while working in Yellowstone Park. The climb was memorable for many reasons, the premiere setting along the Yellowstone River's Paradise Valley, next to impressive Mt. Cowen and peering across the vast Beartooth Plateau was only one. The company was fantastic, a great way to end a perfect summer.
Route Climbed: Northwest ridge Date Climbed: May Day 2004
Very nice day with nobody around. Someone looked to have summited earlier in the day than us and skiied down the southwest couloir. Climbed again in July 2006
