"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

Dolomite: Peaks 4 and 3Mixed feelings about this scramble. Good weather and views but we found the rock pretty terrible and the routefinding difficult. Probably wouldn't return.

Route Climbed: Peaks 4 and 5 Date Climbed: June 19, 2005Had a partner from Australia this day. These June snow conditions, as reflected via the photos, are extremely unusual. The entire Canadian Rockies from Kananaskis to Jasper National Park has far more snow and ice than I have ever witnessed in June.
I do enjoy these wintry like conditions on scrambles as they serve as solid preparation for more technical summer alpine climbs. However, most alpine climbs are rated as extreme avalanche danger as of June 20, 2005.
