07/30/15 Hiked up after deciding not to Bugaboo Spire

ENE side of North Tower
The tricky part of a traverse from Eastpost to Northpost Spires. I skipped the rest of the Towers, but decided to tag the north one after some interesting 5.5-ish climbing up the east side landed me right next to it. Trip report.

Lions way
As everyone else, climbed in a Tstorm instead of the Bugaboo Spire, great route tho.

Backup plan: Lion's Way
Chased off bigger peak 2nd day in a row by ugly weather, hit this in the afternoon as it started to clear up. Roped the 1st pitch and we soloed the rest. Really nice climbing, incredible views.

Lions Way
First route I did in the Bugs. Amazing views of Snowpatch and NE Ridge on a crystal clear day.

Two routes
Did Lion's Way (5.6) on our first day in the Bugaboo Range, and did Ears Between (5.7) on our last day, before hiking out in the late afternoon and cranking through the endless drive home to Salt Lake nonstop. Both routes are pretty cool (did them both with dunsum)--quick and enjoyable. Worth doing while you're there.

Lion's Way and Ears Between
Climbed each route on different days with Brenton Peterson. Ears Between is a better route, but they are both good. Fun "cragging day" in the Bugs!!
Separate trips, but great experience on both routes. Lion's Way was less inspiring than Ears Between. I think the position and working the chimney were neat features on the Ears Between.

Great Route and amazing Place
Started climbing Lion's Way mid morning, up to the summit and down in 3 hours; since it was early we went for Tiger's Trail, this took much longer...we got to the Kain Hut that was already dark...a really beautiful day, my first in the Bugaboos..

Date Climbed: 8-31-2007 Route Climbed: Ears Between
Climbed Ears Between on the South Towers (Donkey Ears). Great route, we did the direct variation adding two 5.8 pitches below the standard start on the prominent ramp. We topped out to see and hear thunder coming at us from the Howser Towers area. The descent got a little scary when we were rapping the route with lightning hitting the peaks all around us and torrential hail streaming down from above. It was dark too. Still a great time though. Definately recommended, just watch the weather.
