Good adventure but I have a feeling that it might have been easier if you subtracted a bit from the car mileage and added it to the ski mileage?

In our parts the summer trailheads are still thoroughly snowed in and the end of winter plowing is pretty much it. So last weekend a exploratory ski tour with barely 4,000 vertical turned into a 12+ miler one way ... but I'd rather ski the access roads than be high centered driving there :)

you're right

our first thought was that we definitely would have made it home many hours sooner if we had simply skinned the additional few miles, but the problem was we didn't think the snow was that deep beforehand. live and learn.

Nice one Scott and Amy. From town it didn't look like Chicoma skiing would be so good this season. Way to take advantage of a nice spring day.

Great report

Potential NM resident staring this spring. Great report. Give a good view and description of this ski. Looks like a good tour that, wit the correct weather system, could make for a nice long nordic day with a sweet slide back down.
