Thanks Greg, this route worked out well for us. We were able to get to about the 5000 foot level via the roads although the last part of the 4wd road became tough to figure out. No matter, we just parked and walked. The saddle was nicely connected to an ascending ridge and I enjoyed the whole hike. I thought it was super hot though and then discovered later on that I had a fever and had been sick for the past day and didn't even know it. No wonder I felt like crap but I still really enjoyed this hike.
