Beware, Matt! On your first visit to Zion, you might be content just gawking and taking pictures. But once you start checking out the peaks and the backcountry, the place will grow on you and might become an obsession.
Thanks for the info on the peak and the heat, Bob - your report makes me think that the 'cairned route', if it still exists by that time, might be more my speed! Someday...NGA and SGA...
If you don't mind the water and can deal with the 5.4 spot, the standard way is probably not that much worse and may be a little safer in warm weather because so much of it is in a canyon whereas the cairned route has a great deal of exposure to the sun.
