Foggy start
It was quite foggy when we started the North Ridge Trail, but after we summited the skies cleared to some beautiful vistas. It was so gorgeous it took us longer on the way down than the way up, stopping constantly to admire the views.

Gorge Trail up / N Ridge down
My first visit to Maine. We were in Massachusetts for my wife's cousin's wedding and decided to vacation here afterwards. Got some hiking in and visited my wife's family on Toddy Pond. The Gorge Trail was wonderful. I went up Dorr Mtn as well. I didn't realize it, but you don't need a national parks pass for this hike, and you don't need to pay for Cadillac Road/Mtn parking. But the parking situation is pretty much a nightmare. We had planned to hike up the North Ridge Trail, but couldn't find parking, and were lucky to get a spot at the Gorge Trailhead.

Traverse from Dorr
Started with the Ladder climb up to the Dorr summit and then completed the traverse over to Cadillac. Found the summit marker about a 100 yards from the gift store along the south summit hike. Views were terrific. Returned the way I came.

Somewhat Clear Day
Rather warm day, a bit hazy but found the true summit (brass cap). Enjoyed the views, however, the cruise ship swarms were about so didn't stay too long. Went to Hunters beach which I had not heard of, there were maybe a dozen people there and the sound of the boulders was amazing. Everyone should visit....no no not everyone then it would be like the rest of the park.
Got pulled over by the park cops trying to bike up at night. Still made it. Was good.

Gorge Path - North Ridge Loop
Hiked to the summit via the rocky Gorge Path in Sept 2011. Amazing views approaching the rocky treeless summit. Returned via the North Ridge trail.

Took the easy way up
Drove to the summit due to time constraints. Sunrise was amazing, and I admit there is value in increasing accessibility for more people to enjoy these places.
Hiked up a few different ways in the last couple weeks. North ridge, south ridge, and Gorge Path. Also drove up. A little less than 2 hours round trip for north ridge. Something to note is that the wide open area with the small loop path is not the summit. The true summit is in a closed area with radio towers and a security fence, but the open area is the next best.

So weather less than stellar no views from top but did have better luck elsewhere in park. Anyways just drive up since with wife and 2 yr old, his first summit I think from parking spot to top.

Deathly Cadillac Rain Summit
What appeared to be a light sprinkle at the bottom of the climb turned out to be a torrential downpour at the summit. Not only did the rain pick up heavily, the temperature sure did drop. If the rocks were not slick and the visibility reduced to 15 feet, this hike would be quite enjoyable. However, the weather definitely got the best of us and we surrendered at the peak. Freezing and dressed poorly, my girlfriend and I had to ask two women to kindly drive us back down to the base.
My wife and I started at Sand Beach and climbed over the Beehive, Champlain Mtn, and Dorr Mtn and then to Cadillac. I loved the hike, especially with the ocean and bays below as that gave a new sight that I had never seen hiking. We finished going down the West Face Cadillac trail which is incredibly steep! We ended at Bubbles Pond and let the bus take us back to our campsite. In all, we did about 8 miles.
