Gangolf, your trips are always so inspiring; they really do motivate me to make the plans and follow through to visit some of the places you write up - Sicily, stunning Corsica, and soon the Julians - Thank You!

Yes, the Tre Cimi peaks are gorgeous. On both my trips there, however, it was raining, sleeting or snowing. I finally managed one good day to tour around the peaks. Many more co-hikers there than in your pics when I was there. That's one thing I like about Zermatt: I can usually find solace on the trails there on the right side of the valley. Most folks don't stray from the Bahnhofstrasse or the ski areas. Thanks fro the great photos!
Regards, Paul

Re: Beautiful country, awful weather
Actually I blotted out all the people from the photos. Somehow with my zoom-lense I'm easily able to do this without noticing. On the other hand it was not as crowded as it would have been in August or on a weekend...
A national treasure which is certain to delight the most demanding tourist !
And this is not Utah , it's Italy !
Mind you, I always assumed that those mesas if I'm not mistaken for the name (the tall slender rock strucures ) were an american "trademark" !

Re: Astounding !
I think a mesa should be a broad, flat topped structure and what we are seeing here is quite the contrary. The Dolomites constitute one of the most wonderful mountain ranges on this planet. Your comparison to Utah doesn't quite hit the mark as these mountains have 3000ft walls a far cry from what you get in the desert.

Re: Wonderful!
We had to take full advantage of the few wonderful days we had during these three weeks. I think we managed quite well but would have liked more days like this one ...
Wirklich tolle Berichte und auch Fotos. Ich habe mal vor Jahren mit meinen Eltern fast dieselbe Tour gemacht und habe diesen besonders gern gelesen!
Grüße, Jan
