Rein and Spanky Conquer Britton Hill
Me and Spanky (my dog) bivouacked in Destin, FL the night before our assault on Britton Hill. On the bitter cold (30's) morning of 1/29/07 we successfully summited the beast. Check out http://50summits.blogspot.com for all the details.

Yippee
Looks like the highpoint is in the woods somewhere. Dog and I wandered the area for about 30 minutes.
Down in Florida on business, I made the 80 mile drive to the lowest highpoint in the US. Nice day, so I hiked the .71 mile red trail through the woods also. Highpoint #3.

On a trip I told my Grandkids we would climb the highest mountain in Florida. Expecting a snow capped peak, they called it a rip off as we walked to 20 steps from the car to the high point marker. On our trip back home, we stopped again at Mount Ripoff and they enjoyed the hiking trail in the woods.

Unknown Florida
Went with my relatives, The Cooks, who reside in Pensacola. Interesting drive there through all the Florida backroads.

Swung by here on my way back to Atlanta from New Orleans with my girlfriend and brother. My girlfriend wasn't too pleased with the detour, and refused to get out of the car to walk the 10 yards to the highpoint. I guess highpointing isn't for everyone.

Highpoint #33. Rented a minivan & took turns driving from MA (home) to MO-AR-LA-MS-AL-FL & back. Approached with the sun trying to burn off the clouds. Tried to wander around on the trails but the way was blocked by tremendous amounts of incredibly intricate 3-dimensional spider webs the likes of which I have never seen. Unfortunately the images from my camera don't do them justice; condensation on the lens didn't help, either. Oh well, back to MA & to a really surprised car rental agency!

This was my first highpoint, on the quest to complete them all. I thought that I should start with the lowest. However, now I think I will go in the order of most convenient. Not a very difficult one, I hiked all the trails, thinking there must be more. If more means banana spiders and wasps, I guess I made out pretty well.
I drove through the Florida panhandle when I got my new car in Florida, and had to drive it to Denver, Colorado. Driving through the panhandle, I was driving through a hurricane. The hurricane subsided by the time I got to the highpoint.
