Arkaquah Trail
Went to the top as part of a solo backpacking trip. Decent views for Georgia. Bit of a bummer coming to the parking lot after five miles of solitude however.

Foggy and cold
I'm having terrible luck with highpoints. Another completely foggy view, but the hike up was great. The summit area was really well done, too. I just wish I could have seen further than 30 feet.

Summit in 2007
Hit the summit w/ my wife and little girl. We had a blast! Very windy that day ... making it quite chilly ... but fun. Beautiful views to the North. We stopped by a nice winery on the way home in Young Harris (Crane Creek).

Very Nice!!!!
Made the summit with my family. Very nice at the top. I asked a Ranger about the USGS marker and was shown where it was (hidden). After taking a picture of the marker and watching a short movie at the visitors center, made my way down. Very nice at the top.

Via Jack's Knob
A pleasant stroll up the mountain. That is until one of the largest parking lots I've ever seen in my whole life. You would think it was a mall and not a mountain.

From parking Lot
Nice weather for this. My brother in law was nice enough to take us there. He is from Atlanta and strangely and never been to his state's highpoint as well.

My fave of the south
This one is my favorite HP in the South. I like the hike in Virginia more, but this place was just fun. The markers, the tower, the view--I liked it all. On a clear day, you can see the skyscrapers of Atlanta.

22nd state highpoint
Hiked up the .6-mile paved hiking path after hours but before sundown. Third highpoint in one day after doing Rogers and Clingmans earlier in the day.

Hiking, storms, and turkey hunting
I hiked with my dad along the Jack's Knob trail from Jack's Gap, meeting my wife, mother, and son at the parking lot. I carried my son the rest of the way to the summit in a backpack, with my wife and mother following. High winds and an approaching storm cut our time short on the summit, but the views were amazing. On the drive back, a turkey trying to "fly" across the road met its end against our bumper, making quite an impact. We were fortunate to leave the mountain when we did, as severe thunderstorms and tornados rolled through north Georgia the rest of the evening. HP9
Climbed from Jack's Gap via the Jack's Knob Trail. Saw no one on the trail until I got to the parking lot. The views from the top were quite astounding. I am not sure why they didn't take the AT over this mountain.

Alone at the top of Georgia
Got there about 9:00am. Absolutely deserted. Worked out well because I didn't have the $3 cash to pay for parking. But also means I had to deal with just taking the half-mile trail. Disappointing hike, but nice to be alone up there. After getting back down, took Jack's Knob to South (true) Summit of Wolfpen Ridge.

Georgia high point
Summited numerous times via Arkaquah and Jacks Knob Trail. Rime ice formations provide great photo opportunities in the winter. There's a 5k running race on the paved access road every winter. Gains 2500 ft in 3.1 miles -- ouch!
