Reminiscent of the northern aspect of Pagoda Mtn.Except in the case of Pagoda, more of the ridge decorations come down from Longs Pk.

Re: Reminiscent of the northern aspect of Pagoda Mtn.I had a look at Pagoda 's page and I must agree: viewing Herbetet from East, there is a certain similarity that I noticed in particular in this photo.
But, as you can see from the other views posted, Herbetet has a rather polymorphic aspect ! Difficult to see what's the finest one....As someone rightly told, " It must be wonderful to have such a mountain rising above your valley" ;-)
And looking at the near Grivola and Ciarforon, without taking into account Roccia Viva, Torre del Gran San Pietro and Gran Paradiso itself, it seems difficult disagree...
Thanks for your attention!

Where along the E Ridge Route?Very nice pic. Where was this picture taken from, relative to the East Ridge Route? Is it far from the Leonessa Hut?

Re: Where along the E Ridge Route? Not far from Leonessa hut, 15-20 minutes I should say, after Herbetet brook has been forded.
If one wants to have a frontal view of the East Ridge, and to see simultaneously also both NE and SE face, it is necessary to climb the moraine at the back of Leonessa Hut. But all the times I went there, I always stopped at the bivouac.
Ciao!

Re: glacial power..and in the past, not only Vallone dell'Herbetet, but, descending towards the bottom, also Valnontey, valle di Cogne and the central Valle d'Aosta were covered with a deep glacier.
I have the suspect that you know these things ;-))

DesiderioQuando una foto ti fa venire voglia di scalare una montagna facendoti riscoprire una nuova visione della stessa da un punto in cui l'hai osservata tante volte... vuol dire che la passione del fotografo è davvero tanta e sincera.
Wonderfull!
