Re: Men At Work..

Larry, you have too much time on the internet/You tube. BTW, have you seen the clip of 2 year old smoking in Indonesia?

Re: Men At Work..

Why? Are you thinking about going to Indonesia ???

I am AGAINST smoking in general, probably the reason why I have kept myself so healthy, although I still enjoy eating meat.

In my next LIFE, I will return as either a Raven or an Old Buzzard.

In fact, I won't RETIRE until 'first' becoming an Old Buzzard!
: )

Excellent trip report...

Very enjoyable. Congratulations to both of you for summitting Aco. Liba - sounds to me like a trip to Asia will be in your future. I mean - you can't top Aco in THIS hemisphere...

Thanks to Janne and Liba for sharing.

Re: Excellent trip report...

Thank you Lew... I wish, but it is hard to go to Asia for 2 weeks and summit a big peak... need to work on retirement :)

Re: Excellent trip report...

Thanks.
Yep, the only problem Liba would have with higher peaks is the time limitation.

Great TR.

It was a pleasure to read your guys TR, reminds me to some of the most happiest days in my life.
I did enjoy a lot Nino de Condores and especially the north end, you mentioned, just sitting there at the edge and wondering towards the Mercedario, such a beautiful spot we called "first row ticket".
We kept a medium pace, most of the other team always past us, but most of them died out on summit day, so we were happy to still have energy to make the summit "climbed it. All the way to the top!" :)
People are different.
Congratulations to both of you.

Re: Great TR.

Thank you for your comment. Janne is in back the mountains. Congratulations to you too - for making it all the way to the top :) (it will be my new statement after climbing mountains),

Re: Great TR.

Thanks.
The views towards Mercedario are really beuatiful. Some weeks before Liba arrived I was on my way to La Mano and some other peaks in the area. Unfortunately I got some gear problems and had to turn back after eight days so I never got the chance to climb any of those beauties.
I have been climbing in the Mercedario massif though. Nicer than Aconcagua area in most ways. And very silent in comparison.
When the climbing is the easy part.

Corax,

One question went trough my mind while reading again, where does your fascination for these Russians come from ? :)
otherwise Liba told me you'll be around Poland this year, where do you go exactly ? If I have the chance to be in the Tatras at the same moment I'll be glad to share a "piwo" !

Re: Corax,

Fascination...
I have met many funny Russian climbers over the years. The guys we met on Aco was no exception. When I've been in the Caucasus I've been lucky to meet very nice Russian climbers who have taught me a lot about mountaineering. If I generalize a bit they many times has a different approach to mountaineering and that approach seems to suit me fine somehow. Hard to explain without giving loads of examples or write a novel sized post.

Ilya made it to the summit with his bird nest by the way!

I'm not sure when I'll go to Poland, but sometime this summer. The main reason to go there is to visit some friends. I'll go to...hmmm...forgot the name of the place again, but it's in the Tatras. Let's keep in contact about this.

Re: great report

Thanks Corax, I will eventually do a trip report. Wasn't as easy as yours :) Lot of struggle to get up there, no jogging, lol. Here are some pictures on the Mountainesque facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Mountainesque/1313269225402873
should have more when I do my trip report.
Thanks,
Swam
