"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

Pit and the PendulumWith Michael from Israel. 7 routes in 6 days that I had yet to climb at the Needles. Success on all accounts. P&P was the best one of this trip and, short of the Spell, my favorite moderate route in the Needles. Like most destinations, the hoard does no have the courage to wander far away from 3 or 4 classics. The entire week we were there, the few parties climbing were all doing the same three routes. Guide book beta on the "Pit" is off, you need wider than #6, they have no use on the route. A single Yosemite Giant would make it much safer than soloing the 5.10 chimney squeeze. Pitch 3 is an amazing 5.10 corner pitch.
