"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

Powerline parkingParked on the powerline road and joined the Augspurger Trail near Pt 2950. Access requires high clearance vehicle. Shortens the hike to about 4 miles.

Wonderful viewsAfter hiking Dog Mountain many times, I finally visited Augspurger. The views are wonderful, though the wildflowers were a bit underwhelming. The trail appeared to have been maintained just beyond the Dog Mountain Trail junction, but that might have been my imagination. I would do this hike again.

Peak wildflowers, only slightly overgrownHiked up Dog Mountain and continued to Augspurger. Fantastic viewpoint and a good fitness hike. Wasn't too overgrown yet.

Aug/Dog Mt. LoopWe hiked at the peak of the flower bloom and it was easy to add to the short Dog Mt. climb. I have a feeling that it wouldn't be as interesting at other times of the year.
