Good views
Fun little hike from the Racetrack. I wished for some class 3 and could not find any on the regular route. Had to drop straight down from the summit for some loose boulder hopping. Didnt like that either and ended up traversing to Little Hebe. Killer view from the top.

Damn washboard road!
The peak was easier than the drive into Racetrack Valley!

Nice climb before trip into backcountry
Great hike, with nice temperatures in march. The views of the Racetrack and Saline Valley in the distance are wonderful. I agree with the road there being rough. We were lucky enough to get a flat tire, but were prepeared.

the trail
Another awesome weekend in Death Valley.
On Saturday, a so-so peak with fabulous company in a surreal setting. Wandered out to the Racetrack afterward and fell asleep next to one of the 'moving rocks'. A nice day out.
The highlight of the weekend, though, was a Sunday technical descent of one of the east-side canyons in flowing-water conditions. We must have rappelled 15 stunning waterfalls.

Trail and gully
Fun climb. We did a variation in which we hiked up a short gully, which provided some fun class 2-3 scrambling.

Trail from Grandstand Parking
Also did the north peak a couple of times in the past several years. The trail shown on the topo map I have is shown incorrectly. I think it incorrectly shows the trail going up to the saddle north of Ubehebe, so when you're on the trail, and you gain the ridge, you think the peak immediately south is Ubehebe, but in reality it's Little Ubehebe. So in previous years, not realizing the map's error, I climbed the north peak, the little guy.

Trail from Racetrack
Followed the trail mostly, but scrambled up the actual summit after that ridge from Little Ubehebe Peak. Made it!

Beautiful January stroll
Very nice hike. Beautiful day in Death Valley in January. I was all alone on the hike starting at 7:30 AM and finishing by 11 AM. Great views all the way. I got a little off trail after the saddle but refound the trail after climbing straight up the mountain for a bit. I was disappointed because The Racetrack was muddy and I couldn't go out to search for "moving rocks" but that was my only disappointment for the day.

Loved this climb. Drove in on Thanksgiving Day and enjoyed a MRE for dinner. Hiked out to the Grandstands and surmounted that. Cold night at the parking lot but up early to take down Ubehebe the next morning. Spectacular views of the Racetrack and the Saline Valley. The low Class 3 scramble up the ridgeline made this climb worth it. Very easy route to the top, up and down in three hours.

Drove up from the Saline Valley Road via the Lippincott Mine Road. Camped at the lower Lippincott Mine and drove to the trailhead the next morning. I was able to follow a fairly well defined use trail to climber's right of the ridge leading to the summit from the saddle between Ubehebe and Little Ubehebe. It was quite an adventure just getting to the trailhead and the hike made the trip all the more worthwhile. Amazing views on top from the White Mountains to the Inyo Mountains down to the Panamints, not to mention the Saline and Racetrack Valleys.

Did this with Lara. Started from the car at a not-quite-alpine 11.47. Beautiful day & weather. Met a couple halfway up, one of whom was from Denver. The intimidating-looking traverse from the north peak was quite enjoyable, with easy routefinding, fun scrambling, & fairly good rock!
Summited @ 14.10. Lingered at the top for awhile, enjoying a brew, lunch, & a smoke. Amazing views up top, & a very serene summit. These two cool-looking trekker athlete guys caught us at the summit before flying back down. At least they took our summit photo.
Left the top @ 15.21, getting most of the way down before darkness overtook us. Got back to the car @ 17.47. Great day on a nice peak!
