Winter Trip
Parked at Kirkwood and headed straight up the right side of the the bunny lifts towards Martin Point before they opened up. Great weather and views. Took ice ax and crampons but the grip on the snowshoes was just enough.

First of the day
Dennis Poulin and I did this after camping in our vehicles at the trailhead. Still lots of snow when we were up there. Then we went on to pick off Granite Chief when it was considered the cohp of Placer county.

Back in 2000
Enjoyable hike. Went to wrong summit first. Did the Calaveras COHP later in the day.
Led a group of 10 from Reno to the summit. Several snow crossings were required, but overall the mountain is losing snow fast and did not pose a serious challenge. Hiked Thimble Peak afterwards.
