Pure enjoyment
Rarely-visited peak, with a rewarding class 3 gully scramble to the ridge.

from the Northeast - Box Canyon
Not the best air quality day due to wildfires 100's of miles away; but, still a good hike. Followed this one with a hike up Lonely Pinon Peak (Peak 4897 - 2 miles north of Gottlieb in the same USGS quad).

Ridge walk
Enjoyed a pleasant ridge walk over from Summerlin Pk. These mountains remind me of the Franklin Mtns near El Paso Texas. The only difference is that they're pleasant to hike in since the vegetation is sparse. I then descended to the Iron Age mine before heading back to my car that was parked at the end of Cheyenne.

Across and up
Parked at the end of Summerlin Parkway and crossed the desert/private property. (Not the best possible trailhead) Started up the wash to the saddle and then broke off to climb the South ledge that looks almost turtlehead like. From there it's a short but mindful scramble to the peak.
Ah yes, Gottlieb Peak. I think I went a few weeks before CP, but I thought that was in 2004. The access via Little Red Rock is now closed. Officially everything in that basin is Howard Hughes property; only the tops of Summerlin Peak, East La Madre and 5835 are BLM land.

NE Slope
I seem to remember snow on the northeast slope. Came in from the Box Canyon area. Found a large, interesting, Harlanesque cairn in the Gottlieb-Woody saddle.
