Highpoint # 31
I took advantage of a work meeting being held in Denver and drove out to Kansas to conquer this highpoint. The gale-force wind conditions darn nearly blew me off the summit, but I managed to hang on long enough to take a few selfies. Bring a book for the "take a book/leave a book" library and a beer for the registry mailbox. In my case, I was fresh out of beer, so I left a mini bottle of mango rum. Cheers and a BIG thank you to the gracious owners who are kind enough to grant highpointers access to the site.
State high point #5 for me. The corn hadn't started growing yet so it was nothing but dirt as far as the eye could see. Reminded me a lot of Nebraska's high point. It was a nice day, and one other couple had parked near the entrance past the cattle guard to walk their dogs to the top. Probably would have been good for a bit of exercise.

Not really a climb, just drove up to the summit and got out. My family was with me...they were not as excited as I was. But, it's my first highpoint and a personal satisfaction to me.

A Library!?! (#8)
On my way back to Minnesota from Golden, CO I decided to take the discrete route South through Kansas. As one does when they have nothing better to do. I met another mid-westerner at the "summit". He had apparently just finished college and was off to Denver to spend some time with family before starting his career. We chatted a bit more before I hit the road East toward Minnesota...

#1 03-31-22 W/ Lana Got here about 5:30 pm after having started the day in a rental car from the Denver Int'l Airport and after visiting the Nebraska HP, Panorama Point. Enjoyed the little library and we left a beer for the owner of the property. Drove back to Burlington, CO to spend the night at the very nice Best Western Carousel Inn on South Lincoln Street.

Nice diversion on the drive to Colorado. I didn’t know about the suggestion to leave the owner a beer until I was already there empty handed.

We were glad it hadn't rained so we had no issues driving our rental car out to the highpoint. We parked at the bottom of the final stretch and walked.

Nice winter trot
Gate was closed because of the heavy snow, so walked over to the high point. Had to clear some of the snow to grab a picture, but worth it.
