Beautiful descent
Hiked down from Lathrop Trailhead all the way to river. Gorgeous views of Airport tower and barely any vehicles or cyclists on road. NPS employees clearing invasive species at the river campsite gave us some water and let us use the surprisingly nice pit toilet. Camped in wash inland and hiked back out the next day. Ascent up rock slide grueling but not as bad as we thought it would be based on previous day's descent. Took about 5 hours each way with lots of stops for views and rest.
Even if you just hike the 2 miles in to the overlook, it's worth it.

Lathrop Trail
Great hike with fantastic views. Started on top, down to white Rim Road and back up.

Loved this hike!
This was a great hike, awesome views, serious workout and a well constructed trail. Don't let the first part on either end turn you off (sandy flat trail), it is well worth it! Just don't forget your camera.
