Tops Traverse
Climbed Flattop, Ptarmigan, Notchtop, Knobtop, and Gabletop. Due to weather, we decided to descend down Tourmaline Gorge. Bit of a scramble getting down with loose footing, but we made our way through the brush and hit Odessa Lake before the rain came down. Made our way back to Bear Lake Trail Head. Great outing!

The Tops Traverse
Flattop, Ptarmigan, Notchtop, Knobtop, Gabletop all on a cloudy morning with my friend Jesse Sumrak.. Left Bear Lake trailhead at 5:00 a.m. The sunrise was stunning. There was no wind but lots of overcast. We descended down Tourmaline Gorge. We used the big chute that is just west of Gabletop. Near Tourmaline Lake we climbed the little ridge just south of the lake and traversed over to the other small drainage in the gorge. Eventually we found some cairns but they were not that helpful. Popped out on the west side of Odessa Lake and made our way back to the trail and to Bear Lake. The rain started coming down while we were at Odessa around 9: 30/10:00. It rained the whole way back to Bear Lake. We were soaked.

East Face from Little Matterhorn
We climbed this after Little Matterhorn, accessing the east face from the west end of Little Matterhorn's ridge. Although it looks dicey, there is a Class 3 route.
Hit Flattop, Ptarmigan Point, the unsummit-that's-higher-than-the-real-summit on Notchtop, and Knobtop one fine morning. As smudge says on the main page, "it makes for a nice day spent above the trees along a beautiful stretch of tundra along the divide!"

From Flattop
Since the descent off the flats to access Notchtop was too corniced to provide anything safe, I went back and shoed to this summit. Nothing too spectacular. Continued all the way around and completed a huge loop of Bighorn Flats before climbing half-way up Hallet Peak. At this point, the snow was like regurgitated mashed taters, so I said "screw this" and headed back down. Any descent down Tyndall Glacier would have been roulette.

Do'in the TopsSo many Tops. I liked this one best because the bolders formation you climb up to get to the peak resemble an egyptian pyramid.

One last peak ...After Flattop and Ptarmigan Pt, I meant to climb Knobtop but missed it and ended up climbing Sprague Mtn. So I hit Knobtop on the way back to Flattop.
