"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."

Multiple Routes (3rd class to 5.6)Climbed multiple routes on Grey Rock.
One cool destination to go and climb for the day. Lots of choices. Good camping in the lower meadows as well. Definitely a Front Range gem!

From Hewitt GulchStarted from Hewitt Gulch, climbed in order UN6740, UN7180, North Greyrock, Aiguille du Greyrock, Greyrock Mountain, and UN6485 ending back at the TH. Wonderful weather, Aiguille du Greyrock was the definite highlight of the day.

Nice starter hikeGreat trail up most of the way, then you have to look for carin piles to find the route the rest of the way up. Nice pond at the top and a short little climb to finish it off. Was fantastic views and just a little windy, like 40 mph.

Fantastic PayoffFantastic payoff for the effort!! The views from the top wont pop your eyes out but the trail is gorgeous and well worth the relatively minor effort of getting there.

First Coloroado climbLived in Ft. Collins area for 10 years. This is the first mountain I climbed, a week after arriving in the city from sea level. I remember being pretty winded! But I loved the rocks and the ponderosa pines that manage to grow out of solid granite. I returned here many times.

"Weenie Route"Really great class four fun, and so close to home! Next time I'm bringing some weenies to grill for sure! The hike up to the rock sure is a hot one though, whew! Bring plenty of water if you're heading up on a warm summer day!

My first solo climb!I just did the easy hike up to the summit. Nice boulder scramble near the top. A really nice trail until the top where it was nonexistent. Very good for a first solo!

Easy way upMy buddies and I climbed this several times (some in the dark) during my college days at CSU (1989-1995). But alas we did only the easy way up and never climbed the face. I always liked the little pond up top.

Roaming aroundTook main trail to the summit trail, then a kind of circuitous route to the true summit. The cone offers great opportunities to snoop around on rock. Chorus of frogs at the top was a welcome surprise.

Grey Rock TrailI started around 12:30 and reached the summit at around 2:30. We had a few brief episodes of very light rain and thunder on the way up. I made the mistake of going toward the north summit first, where I saw that the south summit was obviously higher. I tried traversing along the granite ridge toward the true summit, and that's when the character building began in earnest. There was a period of heavy rain, so I headed back down into the trees. The rain let up after a few minutes, and from there I climbed up to the true summit. By that point the sky had cleared up quite a bit, and views were great. I got back to the trailhead a little before 4:30.
