Kill a week. Maybe two.
This is a US Government recreation area which means there is some serious no s*** Government Recreation to be had. There are well over a dozen trails in the recreation site ranging from hop out of your car tourist trails to week-long Highline backpacking expeditions. If you get bored humping a ruck there's world class fishing, world class boating, world class horseback riding available. In addition, there's a dozen or so managed campgrounds and an entire forest full of dispersed camping areas for you hippie types. It's not often the government can build a huge pork barrel project and still serve the public good in such a grand fashion. God bless the Republic!
