GB and CH
Started from the WB I70 tunnel parking at 4: 40 am. Climbed Golden Bear then over to Coon Hill. The Hill's NE ridge was a bit of a challenge route-finding wise but not too bad. I wouldn't stay on the top of the ridge as it dips steeply down a few times. Good shelves to follow up. Sunny morning. Back to car by 9:40 am.

Some amazing views!
Combined with Golden Bear Peak, ridge has little 3rd class stretch, nothing to scary, but it was interesting.

Pretty fun little hill
Passed this peak 1000 times on I70 and finally decided to climb it to see if the areas around it had BC potential. Well howdy do! They do! Surprised it was such a fun scramblish climb. Lots of BC terrain and easy access from W tunnel. Too much snow on the 3rd class ledges so I went up east slopes. Warm fall day. With M.

Coon
September 8 2016
After work, I climbed Coon Hill since I failed on September 1 due to bad weather. I really had to push hard to make the summit at sunset. The sunset was nice and there was a lot of smoke in the air from a forest fire somewhere.
I descended a steep gully on the east face because I though it would be faster than the ridge and since daylight was fading. It was very dark by the time I reached the base of the mountain.
September 1 2016
I set off to climb Coon Hill after work and in the evening. It started raining and hailing at about 12,000 feet, but I decided to continue on as long as there was no thunder. The precipitation was coming down very hard and there was thunder when I reached 12,500 feet. I turned back at this point. I got soaked on the way down, but by the time I was back the rain and hail had stopped. It was a little disappointing not to reach the summit.

From Golden Bear
Peakbug and I traversed the ridge/cirque from Golden Bear. We chose to pass the class 3 scramble and dropped down to gain the gentler slopes to the SE. Great views and weather.
Climbed with Golden Bear Peak. Birthday celebration for rkymtn. Short and steep.

From Loveland Pass
We set up a car shuttle to enjoy two Loveland Pass 12ers (and then accidentally blew past one of them right out of the pass...) and this peak along with "Golden Bear." Completely impressed by the northeast ridge - it exceeded my expectations and made for a great way to finish the outing. Great day!

This is my backyard mountain. Over the last 30 yrs I've hiked this peak more than any other, and this time was like most others except this time I found an I-pod in the E couloir.

Bonus Peak
Decided to climb Coon Hill as a bonus peak after "Golden Bear Peak", Mount Trelease & Hagar Mountain (from the west end of the Eisenhower Tunnel). Skirted the northeast ridge on the south side because it was snowy, chossy, and I was alone and unsure if it even went or not. Lost several hundered feet and climbed up the grassy east face.
1st: 10/31/09 - Halloween climb with Foxy Long Bottoms and WIclimber. Started at the west side of the Tunnel and went up Coon Hill then traversed over PT 12346 and PT 12429 before returning to the saddle between them and back out the highway. Nice day to be out, sunny and warmer than expected!
2nd: 8/1/21 - Solo loop with PT 12346 and PT 12429, beat the weather with this quick outing
3rd: 5/14/22 - Solo ski, skinned to the summit via south ridge, skied one of the NE couloirs then back over the ridge and to the car.
