White Chocolate Direct
Made this peak alot more interesting with class 3/4 on snowy choss. Lots of fun, this is a great little peak with outstanding views. I wouldn't know, it was snowing all the way up, and the summit ridge had about 100 yards of visibility!

Great little peak to climb
Climbed from Ruwau Lake, great views and I love the color of the rocks! Brought along a small Hershey's chocolate bar to eat on the top :)

From Upper Chocolate Lake, we ascended the trail to the saddle and then took the south ridge to the summit.

From Ruwau Lake
Quick side trip on the way back from Gendarme and Aperture Peaks to get a second bonus peak on day 5 of the 2007 Sierra Challenge. Great views.

Bishop Pass trail to Ruwau Lake
Ran up with Catherid on Labor Day to get one more peak in before going home. Great area, easy to see why its such a popular trail... Lots to do in the area will definately be back.
Climbed Chocolate after hitting Agassiz earlier in the day. The elevation of this peak gives a nice perspective of the Bishop Pass area. You get a great sense of the physical relief that is lost when climbing the higher peaks. I was utterly spent at the end of the day. I need more conditioning!

Dayhike from Ruwau Lk.
Approached from the S. from the trail saddle nr. Ruwau Lk. Packed summit register - seemed like 10-15 climbs per day! Climbed w/2 others on return from Isoceles Pk in Dusy Basin dayhike.
Had a great time playing around in the Bishop Creek area with a couple friends. Wandered around on this little mountain for awhile. Nice views from the top.

Southeast from South Lake to Long Lake and then up the southwest slope
I came down from this hike looking like a calico cat. With the midmorning emergence of the hot sun, I stripped down to the bare necessities, missing a few places with the sunscreen (like the symmetrical spots approximately over my kidneys where the pack doesn't cover). My poor white underbelly hadn't seen the sun since I tried taking up sunbathing (interested me for one day) a couple years ago. Otherwise, it was a fun snowshoe with Joe, his dogs and my Jon.
I snowshoed this with Joe and Robin from about a mile below South Lake. It was an enjoyable hike on a beautiful day. We figured (rightly so) that this would be a good way to begin acclimating for the coming season.

Had hoped to do a loop around Hurd Peak, but several inches of fresh powder made this look a tedious option, so I bailed on that. Surprisingly nice views from Chocolate considering how low it is, especially of Cloudripper and Picture Puzzle.
Route Climbed: SE Ridge - descended NW Ridge Date Climbed: August 10th, 2005
Tagged this peak on my way back from an easy day on the Sierra Challenge. The highlight of the peak was the interesting shortcut we took down the NW Ridge onto what I called "Vanilla Flats"
Route Climbed: From Chocolate Lake Date Climbed: August 2004
Where can you get a higher ratio of views to effort? This is a great vantage point to see Bishop Canyon from, and it is so quick and easy from beautiful Chocolate Lake.
